Curried Mustard Balsamic Vinaigrette

Here’s another homemade dressing to add to your list.  This Curried Mustard Balsamic Vinaigrette will stop you from ever buying pre-made salad dressing again.  

Salad dressings that are sold in grocery stores or come in a pre-packaged form are often loaded with fat.  Although the fats in dressings usually contribute a richness to our favorite vegetables, sometimes the fat content is excessive. When our diets have too much fat in them, it can lead to unnecessary and excess weight gain as well as a number of other chronic conditions such as heart disease.  Heart disease consists of heart attacks, clogged arteries, strokes, congestive heart failure, and a number of other complications and is one of the number one killers in America today.  When we take small steps for our health, even as small as making our own salad dressings, we are reducing the risk for many chronic conditions.

DressingTo make this salad dressing, mix together ½ cup of balsamic vinegar, ¼ cup of olive oil, three tablespoons of mustard, ½ of a medium onion, two cloves of garlic, one teaspoon of curry or turmeric, one teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and some salt to taste.  Blend all of these ingredients together.  Throw into a mason jar and store in the fridge so that it is ready whenever you need it.

I like to make this in a mason jar, label it as “MINE”, and throw it in the refrigerator at work.  That way, I do not have to worry about salad dressings all the time and I am plenty prepared for a healthy week.  I love to whip up one of our many salad recipes like our Purple Kale Powerhouse Salad or our Roasted Chickpea Kale Salad and throw on this dressing.   • 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of mustard
  • 1/2 of medium onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of curry or turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  1. Blend away!
