Each fall, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors FNCE (Food & Nutrition Conference Expo), the world’s largest meeting of food and nutrition experts — more than 10,000 registered dietitian nutritionists, nutrition science researchers, policy makers, health-care providers and industry leaders attend the annual meeting — and address key issues affecting the health of all Americans. This year the conference is in Chicago (!!!) and we are so excited to network, attend panels, eat good food, and learn about the new research in the field.
With FNCE right around the corner, we thought it would be great to do a podcast episode that highlights why being a registered dietitian (RD) is so fresh.
In this episode we’ll be covering:
- How to become an RD
- Where RD’s work/what RD’s do
- The pros & cons
- The training involved
- The difference between a dietitian and nutritionist
- And much, much more!

Hey Wendy and Jess! I’m a nutrition and food science student applying into Dietetics and LOVE what I’m getting into :). This is one of my favourite podcasts ^__^ you guys keep it real and genuine and give facts instead of “bro-science” LOL.
I really connected with Wendy’s point with the lack of diversity! As a girl of colour, there aren’t lot of people who look like me (there aren’t a lot of black people ?) while I love interacting with different people, it’s hard to “see yourself” when not a lot of people look like you.
I’m so happy to have found you! You guys are my inspiration and it’s empowering watching intelligent, strong, compassionate and beautiful women who look like me 🙂 Keep up the great work guys! 😀
P.S – I LOVE the blackbean brownies recipe!!
P.S.S- Jess! Did you know there’s a marvel superhero with the same name (Jessica Jones) – she’s super cool 😀 just thought I’d let you know LOL
SO happy to hear you enjoyed the podcast episode!! Good luck with the semester, and rock it all the way to the RD! If you get a chance, please leave us a podcast review on itunes!
PS: Jess is always being told about that marvel hero hahahaha
