Vegan Cheesesteak

Real talk…I’ve NEVER had an actual cheesesteak sandwich. Don’t kill me, but, I don’t like the taste of steak (not that there’s anything wrong with it). Having said that, this cheesesteak sammy featuring the @fieldroast vegan Plant-Based Italian Sausage is legit TO DIE FOR. Steak lover or not. #ad The best part: it’s only 5 ingredients and takes less than 20 minutes to make. In addition to enjoying this dish for lunch or dinner, it’s also PERFECT to serve at a gathering because it’s so simple, economical and filling. I recommend cutting the sandwich in half and serving with a yummy side. Your guests will love you long time. #SimplyMade Here’s how you make this beaut: Ingredients ✔️ 1 Field Roast Italian Sausage ✔️ 1 green bell pepper, 1/2 red bell pepper, 1/2 onion 2 teaspoons of olive oil, divided ✔️2 baguettes ✔️ 5 slices of cheese (I used mozzarella but any sliced cheese will do) Salt and pepper to taste ✔️Optional: Garlic and chili powder Instructions: 🍽 Preheat oven to 400F 🍽 Slice the Field Roast sausage in half, lengthwise, and then cut into pieces, diagonally 🍽 Next, saute sausage on medium heat with 1 teaspoon of olive oil for 5 minutes or until part of the sausage has browned 🍽 While that’s cooking, slice the peppers and onions 🍽 Remove sausage from pan, then add remaining 1 teaspoon of olive oil and saute sliced peppers/onion until the onion is translucent in color. This is also where you add chopped garlic if desired. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 🍽 Slice each baguette and layer the inside with 2 slices of cheese, then add the sausage, peppers/onions. 🍽 Top each baguette with another 1⁄2 slice of cheese and then place baguettes on a baking sheet in the oven for ~5 minutes or until bread is toasted and cheese is melted. Ingredients
  • 1 Field Roast Italian Sausage
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil divided
  • 2 baguettes
  • 5 slices of cheese (I used mozzarella but any sliced cheese will do)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Garlic, optional
  • Chili powder, optional
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400F

  2. Slice the Field Roast sausage in half, lengthwise, and then cut into pieces, diagonally

  3. Next, sauté sausage on medium heat with 1 teaspoon of olive oil for 5 minutes or until part of the sausage has browned

  4. Remove sausage from pan, then add remaining 1 teaspoon of olive oil and saute sliced peppers/onion until the onion is translucent in color. This is also where you add chopped garlic if desired. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5.  Slice each baguette and layer the inside with 2 slices of cheese, then add the sausage, peppers/onions.

  6. Top each baguette with another 1⁄2 slice of cheese and then place baguettes on a baking sheet in the oven for ~5 minutes or until bread is toasted and cheese is melted. Add optional chili pepper to top if off if desired.
