I’m Wendy, and one of my biggest passions is diabetes education. Being from the Dominican Republic, I learned the significance of food as a cornerstone of community and celebration. My journey into nutrition began with a personal connection to diabetes within my family. Witnessing its impact sparked a desire to push change in my community. I pursued a path in dietetics to bridge the gap between culturally rooted dietary traditions and evidence-based care, focusing on diabetes management.
My nutrition philosophy revolves around intuitive eating, recognizing that health isn’t just about the food we consume but the relationship we foster with it. I advocate for embracing our cultural foods mindfully, understanding that every bite can be both nourishing and a celebration of heritage. Beyond my professional pursuits, you’ll find me exploring nature trails in the Hudson Valley, experimenting with new recipes, traveling and spending quality time with the people I love.
